Update your tablet software

Doing this will make your tablet work better and faster  :)

You will need to be connected to a wireless network; it will require 30 minutes and a charger in order to download the update.

- Go into settings.
- Scroll down and click on About Tablet.
- Click on System Update.

If your tablet requires an update, it will download it automatically.

Once your tablet downloads the file, a prompt should appear to select Install and Restart Now. If it does not appear, simply select System Update again and it will allow you to select Install and Restart Now.  This process WILL NOT erase anything on your tablet.

If your tablet does not require an update, a pop-up box will appear telling you so.

Please keep the tablet plugged in throughout the updating process.

Please do not use the tablet USB cable charger for other devices

Although the charger is the similar to those used for other devices, not all devices use both prongs on top of your USB cable charger like the tablets require.

Other devices will wear down the USB cable charger and it will become useless for the tablet.

Inserting a USB cable charger with worn prongs into the tablets causes additional wear and tear to the internal port and will result in a worn down charging port which damages the tablet.

Please use a dedicated tablet charger for best results.

BACK UP YOUR WORK!

The tablet’s internal memory is not for permanent storage.  (Feel free to store information internally, but just be aware that if you turn your tablet in the CCHS, that information may be lost)

Use an application like EverNote or Kingsoft, use Google Docs, email the work to yourself, you can transfer files to a thumb drive or SD card – but DO NOT STORE DATA ON YOUR TABLET.

If it breaks, you will not be able to access your work and when it is sent in for repairs, it will be reset therefore erasing everything on it.

Extend Battery Life

Avoid using Live Wallpapers

Dim your Display

Deactivate Wifi if not needed

Uninstall unnecessary apps

Check yourself - install the app "Battery Doctor"

Dump the Widgets

Switch of GPS

Remove haptic Feedback (each letter buzzes as you press it)

Evernote Tutorials

Evernote stores your information on the web, so if your tablet breaks you will not lose your data.

Over the break, it may be worth your time to listen to these videos. Now that you have had the tablets for a full semester, you know how they work, and how the teachers / school use them.

While you are watching these videos, take some time to think about how you should organize information between your different classes.  Taking time to do this when you are not responsible for actual homework and due dates will enable you to see your file storage and access clearly.  This will help you come up with solutions that you might not see when you are in the day to day rush of schoolwork.
