To turn off those "options" that show up (and usually automatically replace for you) along the bottom of the screen while you are typing:
- touch the tiny picture of a keyboard in the bottom right corner of the screen (to the left of the clock)
- touch "English (US) Android keyboard" (it should be the top option)
to turn it back on, just reverse this process
